Terms & Conditions

1. Definitions

  • GCE Automotive / We / Us / Our means GCE Automotive.
  • Customer / You / Your means the owner or authorised representative of the vehicle.
  • Vehicle means any motor vehicle, motorcycle, trailer or equipment presented for service.
  • Services means all mechanical, auto-electrical, air-conditioning, diagnostic, inspection and related services provided by GCE Automotive.
  • Quote means an estimate of the cost of Services based on information available at the time.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By authorising GCE Automotive to perform Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. These Terms apply to all work undertaken unless otherwise agreed in writing.

3. Quotes and Estimates

  1. Quotes are estimates only and are valid for fourteen (14) days unless stated otherwise.
  2. Quotes are based on initial inspection and information supplied by the Customer. Additional faults or required work may be identified during repairs.
  3. Any variation exceeding ten percent (10%) of the quoted amount will be communicated for approval prior to proceeding, where reasonably practicable.

4. Authority to Carry Out Work

  1. You authorise GCE Automotive to carry out the Services requested and any additional work reasonably required to complete repairs safely and effectively.
  2. Where contact cannot be made, you authorise GCE Automotive to proceed with additional work up to a reasonable value necessary to complete the repair.

5. Payment Terms

  1. Payment is due in full upon completion of Services and prior to vehicle collection unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  2. Accepted payment methods include cash, EFTPOS, credit card and bank transfer.
  3. GCE Automotive reserves the right to recover reasonable administration, collection and legal costs for overdue accounts.

6. Repairer’s Lien

  1. GCE Automotive retains a repairer’s lien over the Vehicle until all amounts owing are paid in full in accordance with Queensland and Australian law.
  2. The Vehicle may be retained and, where lawful, recovered to enforce payment.
  3. This lien does not apply to courtesy or loan vehicles owned by GCE Automotive.

7. Storage Fees

  1. Vehicles not collected within two (2) business days of notification of completion may incur reasonable daily storage fees.
  2. Storage fees continue to accrue until the Vehicle is collected or otherwise dealt with in accordance with legislation.

8. Parts & Subcontracting

  1. Parts supplied may be new, reconditioned or aftermarket unless otherwise agreed.
  2. GCE Automotive may subcontract specialist services where required.

9. Warranty

  1. GCE Automotive warrants its workmanship in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.
  2. Parts are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty only. Labour for warranty claims may not be covered unless required by law.
  3. Warranty does not apply to failures caused by misuse, neglect, unauthorised repairs or failure to follow manufacturer recommendations.

10. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our Services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, GCE Automotive is not liable for indirect or consequential loss including loss of income, loss of use or travel costs. GCE Automotive is not responsible for preexisting faults, wear and tear or hidden defects.

12. Test Drives

You authorise GCE Automotive to operate and test drive the Vehicle as reasonably required for diagnosis and quality assurance.

13. Courtesy Vehicles

Courtesy vehicles are subject to availability and a separate loan vehicle agreement. The Customer is responsible for fines, tolls, fuel, damage or insurance excesses. Insurance excesses and conditions are outlined in the Loan Vehicle Agreement and applicable insurance policy.

14. Abandoned Vehicles

Vehicles left uncollected for extended periods may be deemed abandoned and disposed of in accordance with relevant legislation, with costs recovered.

15. Privacy

Personal information is handled in accordance with GCE Automotive’s Privacy Policy available at www.gceauto.com.au.

16. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
